Let me share my journey…
When I was a child and through the first few decades of my life, I suffered with terrible digestion, irritable moods, unstable blood sugar levels, a weakened immune system, impaired gut health and migraines and headaches. And for a long time, I thought this was normal. I was always hungry and even though I ate a lot, I had a hard time gaining weight. I know that sounds like a good problem to have, but it leads to some very unhealthy eating patterns.
Once I stopped drinking milk in my late teens, I started to gain weight. I didn’t realize until years later that dairy had been part of the problem. I still ate a lot, but I had stopped drinking milk, so I began to put on the pounds. I went from being super skinny to being heavier than “normal”. I didn’t know what was going on with my body and it was frustrating!
I went from being skinny to having to watch my weight and had no idea why. I gained 28 pounds within a 2 – 3 year period. Once I got to college, I turned toward food – especially baked goods, snack foods, and junk food, and started to rely on sugary coffees to keep going.
Over the next several years, I found myself heavier than I wanted to be and not happy with my body. Even worse, I often felt exhausted, bloated and moody all the time. My energy was sporadic, my digestion was a mess, and my brain was foggy. When I was 40, I was finally diagnosed with gluten intolerance and all my symptoms finally started to make sense.
The Journey to Health
I looked closely at my eating habits and realized much of my diet consisted of processed foods, gluten and sugar. After a bit of research, I discovered that these foods are not only HIGHLY addictive, they are also incredibly toxic! They play a major role in obesity, diabetes, and heart disease, trigger chronic inflammation, and damage the immune system. That’s just the START of how they affect your body.
So, of course, the first thing I did was eliminate gluten from my diet and in just a few weeks, I had dropped several pounds and toned up without counting a single calorie. Even better, I felt INCREDIBLE – the bloating went down, I didn’t have any headaches, my tummy felt fine, and I had ENERGY.
What a difference this made!
A few years ago, my hormones got messed up and a whole new set of symptoms started to set in! I wasn’t sleeping well, my cholesterol went up I gained weight and my workout routine didn’t seem to be working for me anymore. I knew I needed to get my health under control.
After much trial and error, elimination diets and various healthy eating programs, I found that eating clean was the solution I was looking for. I didn’t have to diet or count calories. I simply chose to nourish my body with foods that included lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables! I also changed my exercise routine and focused on shorter, higher intensity workouts and strength training.
It worked! I had more energy, my cholesterol went down and I was able to control my weight.
A New Found Purpose…
My experience changed my life in wonderful ways, and now, I’m on a path to help others! I want to help you reclaim your life and lose weight for good simply by breaking free from unhealthy eating habits!
In order to best help others, I enrolled in the Health Coaching Program through The Dr. Sears Wellness Institute so I could learn as much as I could about nutrition and healthy living. A couple years later, I continued my quest for knowledge and became certified as a Mind Body Eating Coach and a Fitness & Nutrition Coach. I also became a Certified Medical Intuitive to tap into my intuitive gifts to be able to help you from a different perspective. Now, as a Certified Health Coach, I have the passion, experience, and knowledge to help you achieve your health goals and lose weight for good!
