Did you know: research studies show that having healthy, supportive relationships in your life can increase your chances of living a longer life by 50%?!?
Socializing is a huge aspect of being human.
Social wellness is the ability to build meaningful relationships with others. Healthy relationships create a support system that increases your general sense of wellness and happiness and can make stressful times easier to mitigate.
Optimal social wellness can also increase your memory, general cognitive skills, assertiveness, and confidence… oh, and your lifespan.
Staying in close contact with friends and spending quality time with loved ones positively impacts your emotional wellness, mental wellness, and overall wellness.
In addition, building healthy relationships with a support system that truly cares about YOU increases your likelihood to make healthy choices because they will help hold you accountable.
Your social wellness can also be increased by volunteering, participating in social activities that you enjoy, and becoming active with community events.
Life gets busy and we often shuffle and postpone and reschedule the “fun” stuff with friends, mistaking it as a want and not a need – but enjoying time with the people you care about is a big part of your wellness!
How often do you say, “Let’s get together soon!” with your friend… and then months pass?
I do that all the time. So today, I challenge you to call up that friend that you have been meaning to get together with and make a PLAN.
